Limnos Beaches Greece ( Lemnos) In Limnos Greece, visitors have the opportunity to swim at some of the finest beaches in the NE Aegean Cluster. The Lemnos Village Resort Hotel Rooms and Suites are located on Plati Beach, one of the best Limnos beaches, with clean waters and soft sands, where your will find bars and cafés, as well as water sports and sunbathing facilities. The nearby beach of Thanos is quite beautiful, with volcanic rocks, golden sand and turquoise water. Keros Beach, also located close to Plati Beach, is worth a visit, as it is the one of the most popular Limnos beaches. Near the capital of Myrina, you can go to the main beach of the town, as well as the Limnos beaches of Romaiiko Gialo and Richa Nera. Both beaches are well-organized and offer water sports facilities. If you want a peaceful spot to swim, we recommend Avlonas Beach, situated just north of Myrina. It has clear waters and no facilities, so it is the ideal place to avoid crowds. Further north of Myrina is Agios Ioannis, a long stretch of sand with large rocky formations in the backdrop. On the northern side of Limnos, you will come across Gomati, a quiet beach with impressive sand dunes and cool water. Limnos Sightseeing, Greece ( Lemnos) The island of Limnos Greece has exquisite archaeological sites, some of which are the oldest in the region. In Myrina, the capital of Limnos, visitors can admire the Venetian Castle ruins, which are located on the edge of a rocky peninsula. The Agia Triada Cathedral is very impressive, while the Archaeological Museum contains several precious artefacts from excavations on the island. Near the village of Kaminia, you can visit the marvellous Archaeological Site of Poliochni, which dates back to the 4 th millennium BC. Close to the village of Kondopouli are the Ancient Sites of Hephestia and Kaveirio, both of which date back to the 8 th century BC. The Chortarolimni Lake is a lovely wetland area that is a refuge for rare and endangered birds. |
